Formula 2 Rising Stars Of 2022

There has always been hype around the next generation, and I’m here to look into it with you.

Let’s start off with a bang – Monaco.

Jack Doohan (19), has gotten stellar results during his rookie season in FIA Formula 2 so far. His talent speaks for itself, deserving of his seat.

There is a multitude of aspiring World Champions throughout the F2 paddock; something that is admirable and so mind blowing. These young men have no fear, continually proving themselves in an applaudable way.

Going back to Australian prodigy, Jack Doohan, and his rookie season. The confidence he has behind the wheel is worth the investment. The results already are remarkable for the Alpine Academy driver, and he is honestly someone to keep an eye on as he lurches forward in his career.

The motorsport world is swirling with talent – drivers who have found their calling in the formula phases. Young drivers who stand out, proving themselves this season seem to be Jack Doohan, Filipe Drugovich (22), Liam Lawson (20), Juri Vips (21), Denis Hauger (19), and Marcus Armstrong (21)- these drivers have shown some serious pace in the past small few races, qualifying sessions and free practice sessions; an admirable effort.

With an especially made new Pirelli tyre compound during the Monaco Grand Prix weekend, the excitement seems to be pumping as New Zealand’s Liam Lawson takes pole position during qualifying, while Filipe Drugovich in car 11 kisses the wall towards the end of the session (with the first group out) – deploying a red flag, thankfully he’s ok!

The entire session of this qualifying round in Monte-Carlo broadcasted the ability, confidence, straight-out want and need to be on top, and the effortless knack that follows these drivers around the track. I can’t even fathom the concentration it must take to be one with your race car – absolutely amazing to watch these young men build a surface for their career, back themselves to their limits, and disguising the speed with a coverage of excitement.

An interesting way to do qualifying – split sessions. However it looks to be much more effective with eliminating traffic, and showcasing the talent these drivers have at different levels as they progress through their careers. The only downside is not seeing how each perform against another in full, but I guess that is what time sheets and FIA directors are for (a thanks to God, because I can’t maths; quite obvious if I’m writing these excerpts).

Looking forward to watching the rest of the FIA Formula 2 season, and watching the future World Champions of Formula 1 roll on through!

Until next time!
