Silverstone’s Last Four Race Winners

As we head into the British Grand Prix this weekend, let’s have a look back in time to re-familiarise ourselves with Great Britain Silverstone’s last few winners. Get your lids on and buckle in.

The Silverstone circuit is 5.892km in length, with a race distance of 306.198km for Sunday – 52 laps. The first Grand Prix took place in Great Britain during 1950! Currently, Max Verstappen (24) holds the lap record with a fast 1:27.097 from 2020.

Over the last four years, Silverstone has brought many exciting races – 2021 being an epic one for the history books of Formula 1.

Lewis Hamilton (37) and Max Verstappen came together, ending in a huge shunt for the young Dutchman; Hamilton later penalised with a ten second penalty. A radio message that could easily send shivers down the seven-time World Champions opponents spines was received with a quiet ‘It’s hammer-time’. Hamilton passed cars lap by lap, eventually winning his home race. A lot of controversy followed the win whilst Verstappen vs Hamilton got even more aggressive for the Championship – the toughest racing with two very determined competitors. Luckily Verstappen walked away with no injuries from the 51G impact.

2020 the circuit was once again dominated by Lewis Hamilton. The Mercedes-AMG Petronas driver crossing the line with only three fully inflated tyres – what would’ve been a super hairy ride back to the chequered flag.

2019 – Lewis Hamilton with an additional point for the fastest lap of the race. Another home race win under his belt.

2018 saw Sebastian Vettel (34) in the #5 Scuderia Ferrari collect the top step over home grown hero Hamilton. A favourite for many tifosi.

With the last few years and their results of Hamilton occupying the top step, who do you believe will take the win for the British Grand Prix in 2022? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time,
