Welcome back to Tayla Talks! Ahead of this weekends race in Austria at The Red Bull Ring, I figured we should see what’s in store. So buckle in and get your engines ready.
The Red Bull Ring’s circuit length is 4.318km with a race distance of 306.452km – 71 laps for Sunday. The current lap record is a quick 1:05.619 as of 2020, held by Scuderia Ferarri’s Carlos Sainz (27).
The first ever Grand Prix was held here in 1970 and is a notable favourite for many fans. A very cool track consisting of 10 corners and 3 DRS detection zones; we know this will bring many fast battles!
This weekend we’re seeing the Sprint qualifying make a come back on Saturday. A free practice session followed by qualifying on Friday, free practice two with the sprint race later on Saturday, and finally the race on Sunday. A heavy few days of preparation; no doubt it’ll be exciting for fans to have so much track time and teams to gather a lot of important data.
After the British Grand Prix, we were able to take away that Mercedes-AMG Petronas can run at the top again with Lewis Hamilton (37), Charles Leclerc (24) had some serious race pace with his teammate Sainz. The Oracle Red Bull Racing team are quick, looking forwards towards this weekend for their home race. Last weekend was unfortunate for the 2021 Word Champion Max Verstappen (24) with some floor damage, but teammate Sergio Perez (32) had some serious fight where it counts. A huge mix for the drivers and teams championship!
Something I’m interested in seeing is how Scuderia Ferrari teammates will perform against each other this weekend, especially with the aftermath of yet again another strategy fail with Leclerc, and what looked like the heated conversation between Leclerc and Mattia Binotto (52). I’m assuming there will be a lot of rivalry between each sides of the garages; it’s so exciting that Ferrari is becoming so competitive again.
Who do you think will be the top step contenders for the 2022 Austrian Grand Prix? Leave your predictions below!
Until next time,
Tayla Talks!
