F1 Pays Tribute To Bianchi #17

The seven year anniversary of French Ferrari Academy driver, Jules Bianchi, was recognised and felt over the entire paddock.

At the young age of just 25, the up and coming talent had a huge crash in wet conditions at 132mph, making contact with a recovery tractor in the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix. Bianchi suffered severe head injuries from the impact, Eurosport reporting it was a 254G impact.

He passed the following July in 2015, his race number retired in honour. Bianchi was the first Formula 1 driver to pass since Ayrton Senna in 1994, shocking the sport entirely. Whilst it’s known motor racing is extremely dangerous, it’s often forgotten just how high the stakes are each time drivers are out on track.

The paddock covered socials in tributes for Bianchi, Charles Leclerc (24) sharing a photo of the pair during Leclerc’s karting days, teammate Carlos Sainz (27) sharing a picture via stories with a simple ‘Always with us’.

The heartfelt posts kept coming, teams recognising that another year had passed – fan tributes coming in with the question that will last a lifetime; what could Bianchi have achieved?

Remembering Jules Bianchi, 1989-2015.

Until next time,
