Welcome back to Tayla Talks! Start your engines as we have a look into the Dutch Grand Prix ahead of FP1.
Formula 1 make their way back to the 4.259km circuit, Zandvoort. The track that was covered in orange smog in 2021 is an exciting and fast track with two DRS detection zones in turns 10 and 12.
The first ever Grand Prix took place in 1952 and comes with some very passionate fans. The current lap record held is a speedy 1:11.097 dominated by Lewis Hamilton in 2021.
We have the usual set up, three free practice sessions, followed by qualifying and race day with 72 laps over a race distance of 306.587km.
This weekend, the circuit trials a fake gravel trap to prevent cars from dragging gravel onto the circuit and causing red flag delays – found in turn 12 with a resin type finish.
Zandvoort is an insane 14 cornered track with crazy steepness. The weather forecast reading a partly cloudy weekend with a top of twenty-six degrees cel over Friday and Saturday, with Sunday cloudy and twenty-five!
It should be a quick and action packed weekend with championship leader, Max Verstappen (24), broadening his championship lead by 93 points over his teammate Sergio Perez (32) and 98 points over Charles Leclerc (24) concluding after last weekend in Belgium.
One thing to keep your eye on this weekend is how Mercedes-AMG Petronas and Scuderia Ferrari will perform after a rough start for Hamilton, and a few rusty strategic calls for Leclerc in Belgium. Both teams are surely hoping for a turn around, and I’m sure all four drivers are holding onto hope that their season will improve significantly.
The battle isn’t over yet, but the second half of the season has well and truly kicked off.
So who takes your top steps for this weekend in the Netherlands?
Until next time,
Tayla Talks
