Inside The Singapore Grand Prix 2022

Engines are finally firing up this weekend, heading back to the Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore for the first time since 2019.

5.063km of pure speed and technique, with 61 laps for Sunday. Singapore is an intense track for drivers, temperatures at an all time high in the cockpit and an insane toll on the body.

A race distance of 308.706km is expected for the race, paired with three DRS detection zones and twenty-three corners – a gruelling time to be out there with weather predicted to be between 26-31 degrees Celsius, partly cloudy for Friday and raining on Saturday and Sunday.

Not to mention, the bumpy track surface and humidity that will be, without a doubt, beyond challenging for the drivers competing – a shining light for porpoising and how well the teams have overcome the seasons hurdle.

However by the looks of Instagram across the last week, drivers have been preparing their bodies for the climate.

The first ever Grand Prix here took place in 2008, where Fernando Alonso (42) took the first ever top step at the street circuit.

Street circuits bring in huge excitement for race fans, generally with less space on track and tricky overtakes. We’re in for an entertaining weekend with the third night race of the season.

2019 saw Sebastian Vettel (35), take the top step with Charles Leclerc (24) and Max Verstappen (24) accompanying the German gentleman on the podium.

So who do you believe will take the top steps this week? Will we have a battle between Scuderia Ferrari and Oracle Red Bull Racing, or will we see McLaren, Mercedes-AMG Petronas, and BWT Alpine heat up their fight?

Could the reigning World Champ, Verstappen, take his second title after this weekend? Leave your predictions below.

Until next time,
