W Series Season Ends Prematurely

W Series released that their season has been put to rest after 6 races, crowning Jamie Chadwick (24) champion for the third time during her stay in the category.

The news broke early morning in Australia, meaning that the last few races of the season, Austin, Texas and a double header in Mexico, would no longer go ahead.

Funding is a priority over running races which lands in cost cutting. Whilst understandable, it’s incredibly disappointing for drivers, teams and fans.

The required funding due to the business from a recent contracted investment was not received, forcing the remaining three races of the 2022 calendar into doubt.

W Series to curtail 2022 season to focus on fund-raising for 2023

The series has only been running since 2019, allowing pathways for women to progress in motorsport. It’s been a fantastic addition to the motorsport world, often following Formula 1 around as a support category.

W Series is such an important step in the right direction. Having the category continue ensures there is a brighter future for up and coming Female racers and all the girls (and men) who work behind the scenes.

Having those women out on track, daring to be different, enables little girls across the globe to make their move, following suit.

It shows that dreams can come true and they too can do anything they dream of. They’re just as capable.

It’s common knowledge that there is still so much work to be done, but women in motorsport is picking up and there is so much support out there now – the future is bright.

The news of financial difficulty for W Series is a hard pill to swallow, especially since the success of the category. However, with the focus of fundraising for next season, there isn’t a moment to lose hope.

The fight is still as clear as day; encouraging young girls and women to get out there. Chase your dreams and be different.

I’m sure I’m not alone in saying we hope to see a strong season from the category next season.

Until next time,
