Tahnee Norris has today decided to stand down as coach of the Harvey Norman Queensland Maroons after a historic five-year tenure.
Norris’ leadership of the Maroons was a successful run, guiding the team to a 2-1 series victory over NSW during the first 3-game series in 2024.
“It’s been an absolute privilege to coach the Queensland State of Origin team at such an important time for women’s rugby league in our country,” said Norris.
“While I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity, I feel that after five years in charge it is the right time for a change for the team and myself personally,
“I’m immensely proud of what this team has been able to achieve. There’s so many big games and moments that I’ll cherish forever, from being part of the Maroons’ success in the first ever three match women’s Origin series, to strengthening our development pathways right throughout Queensland.”
Norris’ impact on the sport has been notably applaudable in regard to her passion for rugby league and her dedication for creating pathways into women’s football.
The QRL will now begin their search for the vacant position of Head Coach with an announcement still to come.
On behalf of everyone at the QRL, I’d like to thank Tahnee for her contribution to women’s rugby league in Queensland,” Brian Canavan said.
“More women and girls get to chase and realise their rugby league dreams because of the work Tahnee has undertaken over many years.”
Canavan, the QRL Chair, stated his support and gratitude for the efforts Norris has made over her five-year ruling.
Until next time,
